Summary
The role of Telesales / Telemarketing involves generating sales leads and / or selling a range of products / services through outbound telephone contact to achieve a predetermined revenue target or sales quota. Employees in this role focus on short sales rather than establishing relationships. The position is not for the fainthearted, but is seen as an excellent way to start in sales and requires an energetic & enthusiastic approach as well as resilience and stamina.
Duties & Responsibilities

Sell products / services over the telephone by making outbound telephone calls to existing customers and new prospects

Generate sales leads, cold call, assess customer needs, close sales or arrange appointments with sales staff in the field where necessary

Work through a list of contacts to promote the company's products / services with the aim of generating new sales

Arrange, process and dispatch products / services, information packs and brochures to existing and prospective clients

Enter changes to contact details in the database and detail the requirements for follow up calls with customers

Produce reports for management on competitor activity by collecting market intelligence from customer contacts during sales calls

Generate statistics on the number of calls required to close a sale

Complete weekly sales reports & maintain sales stock / inventory

Qualifications & Experience
At least 1 - 2 years of related experience.
Career Path
Telesales and Telemarketing representatives can move into external sales roles such as Sales Executive or Sales Representative.
